the San people, presently still living in the desert.

Game Reserve, Kgalagadi Trans-Frontier National Park, Khutse
Game Reserve.
... Salted pans of Makgadikgadi
the salted pans of Makgadikgadi are the remains of a huge
lake that used to cover the area in prehistoric times. These
pans, over 10 000 km2 are only comprised of salt. They are
surrounded by extensive grasslands dotted with palmtrees.
The pans are filled by the rains at the beginning of every
year. Shortly after the pan blooms in flower, attracting thousands
of aquatic birds. Flamingos, and pelicans arrive in this salted
water and animals from the plains rassemble in the grasslands.
Pans of Nxai, covering a vast area are also remains of the
huge salted lake that used to cover the center of Botswana.
Salt has been replaced by fossil soils covered with grass.
Fauna is extremely numerous after december, during the rainy
season in this area.
